Biography

Stuart Miller was born on October 16, 1965 in the small town of Harriman, Tennessee. His parents, Alan and Toodie, and older brother Monty spent the first 8 years of Stuart's life living in several cities while his father finished his graduate degrees. Except for a 2-year period in high school, Stuart spent the majority of his childhood and young adulthood in the sleepy college town of Murfreesboro, Tennessee (a suburb of Nashville). He also has two younger sisters, Amy and Abby, who are nine and fifteen years younger than he is respectively.

As an overweight, effeminate child, Stuart realized early on that his homosexuality was definitely something to be hidden from the world. He strived hard to fit in and by college had achieved this goal, eventually dating a beautiful sorority girl and serving as President of his fraternity. Unfortunately, the facade that he had worked so hard to achieve left him empty and hopeless. Soon after college in 1990, Stuart came out to himself, as he would to his family a few years later.

Unbridled by the burden of dishonesty, Stuart began to shift his career priorities to helping others struggling with homosexuality. He served for 2-years as the Education Director of Nashville Cares, a Nashville-based AIDS service organization, before joining the Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center in 1992. He worked in a variety of management positions at the Center, ending his five-year tenure as Director of Public Affairs.

In 1997, Stuart joined the Internet Development and Marketing firm of BOLD NEW WORLD as its President and CEO. He is actively involved in the Los Angeles community, serving on the Board of Directors of East West Players, the nations oldest and largest Asian American Theatre company, a committee chair of the GLAAD media awards, and a donor and volunteer for the Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center.

In addition to Prayer Warriors, Stuart has written for a variety of publications including the Advocate and Center News. His hobbies include playing the piano, raising money for non-profits, and travelling whenever possible. He lives in West Hollywood.
