Why I read your book.

I went to the book store the day after a fundametalist christian told my partner and me, that we were living in under fire, and wanted to put his hand on my head, and save me from all evil. This was coming from a man who was into "brujeria" which is black magic, and had lived a life of sin before, but was now a reborn christian. I did not let him touch me, because, I've always felt that I have had a good relationship with God. When I went to the book store I was looking for books that talked about homosexuality and religion, when I got to the gay and lesbian section, I came across your book, and it was just what the doctor ordered. I read it first, and now my partner will beging to read it. It helped me to understand that people like that man I met were disturbed individuals who can't just accept things as they are, but feel that they need to change you, maybe in order to be saved themselves. To give you a little background about myself, I went to private religious schools as I grew up, first to a christian junior high, and then to an all girls catholic school. I grew up in a lesbian household, but respect and conservativeness was taught to me. Therefore, I never saw anything that my mother felt was inappropriate behavior in front of a child. In other words my mother and her partner treated each other like friends in front of me. Still though it was hard, because I did not know how to explain to my friends the reason why I live with two women. I grew up liking boys, but there had always been a part of me that was attracted to girls as well. Finally, now that I am older, more mature, and able to understand myself better, I realize that I am bisexual. I wish I could write more, but I'm at work and have to leave now. Thanks for this opportunity to express myself. I loved your book, and hope that you will come to speak in Miami some day soon. Thanks again.
