It's all relative, I think. While it may very well be that K-Mart was not considered to be a "fashionable" store, what was the competition? I doubt rather that there was a Saks and a Barney's and a Bloomie's in the same mall.
Here in trailer trash country, the outlet malls is about as good as it gets. Cheap thrills and no frills are sometimes better than no thrills at all!
Lent my copy of your book to friend Jack who reports he is enjoying it immensely. BUT I WANT IT BACK!
