Hi Zelig, Hey, I read the book several times before I got a revelation that I was RIGHTEOUS to God through JESUS CHRIST. That means, that no matter what I do, because of my faith in the completed work of Christ, I am saved. It doesn't matter if I am gay, straight, lesbian, drug addict, whatever, if I am saved by grace through faith in Christ, I am in right standing with God, period. I am saved clear to the bone, and am going to heaven when I leave this earth. Here is the catch.....if I, by living in this world even as a saved Christian, decide to continue living in a certain sin, I may face penalties, because this world has been cursed after the fall of Adam, thus requiring laws to be put into effect. But here is the bright side....because of the completed work of the cross of Christ (He fulfilled ALL the law for us), we who believe on Christ Jesus have become the righteousness of God, and, the steps of a righteous man are ordered by the Lord!! I could be as "holy" as Mother Theresa, or Billy Graham, but without Christ, I would die and go to hell. I could be the biggest gay whore out there, doing 10 guys a day, and be a Christian, knowing Christ Jesus in my heart, and when I die I would be immediately in heaven with the Lord! It's not what I do, but it's who I am in Christ that makes me acceptable to God (2 Cor 5:21). The apostle Paul states that to the Christian, all things are permissable, but not all things are profitable. Even if homosexuality was not a listed sin in the Bible, I would have to say that it may very well be a negative, since it causes much heartache in the lives of gays, and their families at times. Here's another one. Do you ever see in the Bible, "thou shalt not gamble"? No, you do not. However, I can tell you from experience, that gambling can cause a lot of grief! So, I must say that, perhaps it is a sin too, a mistake, a negative, and go with that. Really, if you think about it, there isn't a whole lot out there in the world that ISN'T sin! (and in God's eyes, sin is sin, no sin is permissable to HIM!) So, where does that leave me? Okay, read Romans, all of it, but pay close attention to chapters 7 and 8. And, please, PLEASE do not get offended by Romans 1:27 because that is just a general message relating that ALL people sin, and come short of the glory of God (Rom 3:23) and therefore, all qualify to become the Righteousness of God in Christ Jesus! Praise God, you are also righteous to God because you are in Christ!
Mary Baxter is incorrect and perhaps a satanist. I suggest you burn her books, as they are Biblically incorrect and suggest that the Christian must do many works of righteousness to make it to heaven, thus nullifying the completed work on the cross and making it look like God needs our help to boost us into heaven----how absurd!!! This, you will find out over and over again, is satan's main tool to keep Christians from moving forward in their walk with God---THE FEAR THAT THEY NEED TO DO SOMETHING OTHER THAN JUST RECEIVE BY FAITH THAT THEY ARE SAVED IN CHRIST JESUS!!!!
There is nothing, NOTHING that a person can DO to get saved. It is a GIFT that cannot be earned, no matter how hard you ever, ever try. So, sit down, shut up, and enter His rest. (I don't mean that meanly! ;))
I hope that you will GET this message in your heart immediately because when you do, no devil in hell will ever make you go back to the other way. When I found out who I was in Christ, I felt as if I had won the lottery! It is an amazing reality that every Christian needs desperately and satan desperately wants us to never ever get!!!
